What is SDGo?

The SDGo Competition is a challenge-based competition targeting at the 17 Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the United Nations. The competition encourages students to build a solution to the challenges of sustainable development, and learn and work together in the process of exploring and practicing.

In this competition, the participating students will learn about the sustainable development goals under the guidance of tutors and advisors in different areas, and participate in solving the local and global sustainable development problems through practical activities. In this process, the students will develop a sense of social responsibility and mission, and enhance their skills of effective learning, flexible use of interdisciplinary knowledge, critical and innovative thinking, teamwork and leadership and other capabilities.

what is SDGs?

Sustainable development means growing together, taking into account others and respecting the environment. "Sustainable development" is not a slogan, it reaches every aspects of life, from recycling of plastic bottles , canteen waste reduction, environmentally friendly laundry options, to the control of smog, the protection of marine life, the support of vulnerable groups.  Every citizen can find sustainable development issues around them, and may be able to use their wisdom and collective intelligence to solve the problem.

At the United Nations summit held in September 2015, 193 Member States unanimously adopted the "2030 Sustainable Development Agenda". The agenda calls on all countries to take action to achieve 17 sustainable development goals ("global targets") for the next 15 years. The global goals cover many of the important issues, including the elimination of extreme poverty, ensuring that all children receive good education, equal opportunities for all, and the promotion of the planet's cleaner and healthier optimal consumption and Production methods and so on.
